A friend thanked me today

She finished reading the near-finished product of the paper she will be handing in now that I have edited it for her.  All she has to do is sort out her references.  She used words like beautiful and wonderful.

For a moment I bathed in her appreciation.  Then I found myself wondering why does my own writing look like a hot mess?  Oh yeah, because I hate going back and editing my own stuff.  I’m my own worst enemy some days.
